BANGER: Nina Simone - Feeling Good (Bassnectar Remix)

"The almighty Lorin Ashton has been called upon for remix duties for Verve Records’ upcoming album Verve Remixed: The First Ladies, paying tribute to jazz music’s most celebrated matriarchs. Taking on the lovely Nina Simone, Bassnectar has crafted a masterful trap rendition of “Feeling Good.” Amplifying the original’s horn section to a spine-tingling bravado, Bassnectar deftly emphasizes the big band brass, eventually transforming the horns into a flurry of dicing, distorted synths. The remix’s booming 808 kick drum recalls Bassnectar’s much overlooked 2009 remix to Fever Ray’s “When I Grow Up.”
Verve Remixed: The First Ladies will be released on July 9th, with accompanying remixes from Pretty Lights, Flume, Maya Jane Coles and more."
